He obtained his undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Arts in Economics at the University of the East in 1985 and his postgraduate degree in Juris Doctor from the Ateneo de Manila University in 1991.

He passed the 1991 bar examinations, and after his admission to the bar on June 4, 1992, he went into tax practice.

He joined the firm in 1994 as a litigation lawyer, handling administrative, commercial, civil, criminal, labor, family, real property and property development, aviation, tax, and intellectual property cases.  He also represents clients in commercial and voluntary arbitration cases and negotiates collective bargaining agreements.
